How does HSC work?

Last week Justin Victor and I met with clients and a great question came up in that meeting. In trying to understand how HSC Wealth Advisors works, client “M” asked if Rick Huff was the head of the pyramid. Great question!

Rick is a founding partner of HSC Wealth Advisors and very influential, but he is not the head of a pyramid.

A pyramid or triangle works for some organizations, but that is not how HSC Wealth Advisors operates. The triangle structure works very well for doctors, dentists and CPA firms. I am very familiar with the CPA firm structure. Client info comes in, some staff can copy it and organize it. The next level of staff can do data entry and gain additional information needed. The next level of staff can review the previous work and so on until you get to the person that ultimately has to sign off on the final product. It is a good model in those situations, but it can also be lonely as you make more solo decisions on the fly.

Here at HSC Wealth Advisors we have more of a circular or round table approach.

We are regularly pulling staff together to discuss our clients on a case by case basis.  All our professionals have a seat at the table and we each take turns leading the discussion and gain input from others. We find it essential to have a wealth of knowledge that is shared among the group.  Our pool of knowledge also grows as our CFP® and CPA practitioners have continuing education requirements that keep us up to date in a rapidly changing world. Not only do we collaborate among ourselves, we make a continuous effort to work in partnership with other professionals like CPAs and attorneys as well. We routinely visit our clients’ attorneys with our clients; alternatively, we have had clients’ attorneys join us for meetings. This inclusive communication helps us avoid pitfalls.

Do your remember Spirograph? You could pick different sized circles and different colored pens and make a beautiful piece of artwork. Each of our clients is like one of those different sized circles and each of our advisors is like a different colored pen. Every client goes through a similar process, but the outcomes are unique unto themselves. As the team works together, each advisor offers their expertise for the particular scenario, forming a true work of art.
